Sony and Microsoft Turn Consoles into PC's
There are different levels of gaming. You could play games on your phone. Then there is the niche of Nintendo with the handheld consoles such as the switch and in the past the DS’s. Then you have consoles with fulfill the gap between not wanting the play on a handheld screen but don't want to cough up the cash for an expensive pc. These are the gamers that have a budget but still want the full experience of gaming like the pros and playing popular titles. Then Finally there is the God tier of gaming which consists of full blown gaming desktop PC’s.
This is for the people that want the whole experience and beyond with frames well beyond 100 on most major triple A title Games. Even if you build a PC with a budget the same price as a console you will get far better performance and benefits. That is why I think you should at this point buy or build preferably build a custom pc over buying a next generation console like the Playstation 5 and the Xbox 2.

Now some people will want to make the argument that they wanna keep playing on a controller and don't want to put in the time to learn keyboard and mouse because they have used a controller their whole life. This doesn’t matter however because you can plug in or connect via bluetooth either a playstation or xbox controller and have it work seamlessly.
Not only that but you don't have to pay to play online either every year or every month it's free and there is a lot wider game selection. Not only do you get all the PC game exclusives but you can get most if not close to all other games you could get on a console. I could go on and on about the benefits of just getting this PC over the next generation consoles but we would be here all day.
I'll tell you some of the leaked specs and components instead. These next gen “Consoles” break the 60fps gaming barrier and make the leap the higher fps gaming. I'm not gonna say high fps gaming because that doesn't even match the refresh rate gaming monitors provide the next step from 60 which is 144. Which you need to see more than 60 frames per second.
However these are the playstation 5 leaked specs and components. It will have a third gen Ryzen processor, the Graphics Card will fall in the Radeon's Navi family, and will include a SSD out of the box which promotes loading speed almost 18 times faster than the current gen consoles. The xbox 2 will have similar specs to this and most of the same features.
Overall I think if Sony and Microsoft are gonna turn consoles into PC’s in the future anyway why not just cough up the money now for a custom PC and reap all the benefits.

Before reading your blog I pretty much already had made the decision to purchase the new PS5. However, after reading through your blog, I would say you've convinced me and switched my mindset about buying the next gen console. What do you think the majority of the gaming community will do? Do you think many gamers will end up with the options you've mentioned? I believe many people will stick with the traditional PlayStation or Xbox consoles but many of those console fans will make that adjustment to PC.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much agree with you I feel like those console fans will still end up getting those new console I mean after all it does sound very appealing a console that give you 120 frames per second rather than 60
DeleteHi Logan, you seem to know a lot about this topic, but not all of us (myself included) do. What is fps? Why does that matter? And what are the cost differences between PCs and consoles?
